Fire-Dex Black Captain Jim Firefighting Hood with Stedair® PREVENT
The Fire-Dex Captain Jim Firefighting Hood with Stedair® PREVENT is a particulate-blocking hood designed to provide thermal protection while helping reduce exposure to fireground contaminants. It combines a traditional hood design with an integrated filtration barrier to support protection across high-exposure areas such as the head, neck, and SCBA interface.

Designed for Fireground Exposure
Modern firefighting hoods are designed to address both heat and contaminant exposure. The Captain Jim hood incorporates particulate-blocking technology intended to reduce the transfer of smoke particles and contaminants to areas such as the jaw, neck, and ears.
The design maintains the familiar fit and feel of a traditional firefighting hood while integrating additional protective features.
Particulate Barrier Construction
This hood features a 2-layer construction:
• Outer layer: 6 oz Spentex for flame resistance and durability
• Inner layer: Stedair® PREVENT particulate barrier
The barrier system is designed to filter particulates in the 0.1–1.0 micron range, targeting common fireground contaminants.
Breathability and Comfort
The Captain Jim hood is designed to balance particulate protection with airflow and wearability.

• Flatlock seam construction helps reduce bulk and snagging
Fit and Coverage
The hood is designed to provide consistent coverage and integrate with structural PPE systems.

Returns Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
